I have an ellisimo and am wondering if I should go for an upgrade to ellisimo gold, or simply get upgrade 1? Does anyone know the price difference? Any idea is welcome! Thanks

Prices vary by the dealer's geographic location as well as their sales volume.

Would comparison at the BL website help? link

Thanks Patti. I think I still need check with dealer for the price difference. Just wondering if the ellisimo after the 3 upgrades will be able to match the ellisimo gold, after spending $1700 on the upgrades. Expensive machine, and expensive upgrades too!

Personally, I wouldn't upgrade to the Gold since you can just purchase the upgrades and that will bring your Ellisimo to "Gold" status. I believe the ONLY difference is the amount of colors on the screen. I think the Ellisimo Gold has the capability to display more colors. However, I own an Ellisimo Gold and have been in class with others who own the Ellisimo and I truly cannot tell the difference. Besides, who needs 16 million colors unless having a fabulous screen saver with lots of colors is important to you. LOL!

Now, I have never asked my dealer what the difference between the Gold and the first Ellisimo they put out, but I've read enough to know that they are pretty much the same insofar as what they can do, once all the upgrades are in.

You definitely should get Upgrade I. I know that's the one upgrade Ellisimo owners without the Gold edition say is a must. Upgrade II, to me, is really novelty. I've never used the pad, except to just try it out. I recently purchased Upgrade 3 and love the larger hoop. However, if I didn't do a lot of table linen gifts, I'm not sure how useful it would be.

Save the money and purchase the upgrades you think you want or need. I think it will cost your more in the long run to purchase a Gold as opposed to just buying the upgrades. Unless the price difference with trading your machine in for a Gold matches or just is a couple hundred more than purchasing the first two upgrades, I wouldn't trade it in.

I hope this helps.

Jim

The upgrades are up to you-not hard to install and make the machines virtually the same. But if you do keep your Ellisimo, Make sure you do the UPDATES off the Babylock site! It improves the performance of the machine!

I have a the E Gold with upgrade I. That is enough for me. I posted some time ago about the other upgrades and decided against them. The posters explained the pen pad- way too pricey for what I would ever use. A computer program is less expensive and more functional. And I am not interested in the hooping one. I wish I could go into more detail but I have forgotten exactly what they were about and my dealer's price.
You could search under my name and upgrades and it may pop up.
If there is another piece if sewing equipment you want that would be a better use. You have got me thinking about upgrade I now! I think I have used the camera zoom 3-4 times in 3 years! And still went with my eye as it confused me. I think it may have been more fonts or stitches but cant tell you which ones.
I will try to figure it out more today.

The Ellisimo Gold has Upgrade 1 (camera and scanning features), and upgrade 2 (the tablet). It does not come with upgrade 3 (the big border hoop and camera features for that).

See what you really want..upgrade 1 is the most important because that gives you the snowman and fabric scanning..among other things. I am not all that impressed with the tablet upgrade..you can do more with software. Upgrade 3 would be really nice to have, but if you aren't interested in enhanced features for the border function and the large border hoop then skip it.

If it were me I would buy upgrade 1, possibly upgrade 3. And it all depends on how much you have used your Ellisimo..if it is worn out, then by all means you might want to trade it in.

Thanks everyone for the messages and suggestions. This is overwhelming. I haven't used my ellisimo much in the past 2years. Recently I was trying to do some embroidery on some clothes and really missed the features of the camera scan, which is from upgrade 1, which can display both the fabric color and the design, and the exact position. I decide to go for upgrade 1 for now. Thanks again, everyone.
