I have been told it is a great show, but DH is a bit creeped out by the whole idea (not to say that I am not!) and won't watch. I can stream it into the sewing room, but is it a good show for only half watching?

I love Dexter! I am on season 7 with Netflix. It has its 'ick' moments. I think you would enjoy half-watching it while sewing.

The earlier seasons of dexter are "ickier" but also much funnier than the later seasons are. So the first seasons arent good for half watching. The later ones ARE because they seem to have longer stretches with not much happening. I've been on my computer while watching many of those episodes.

Thanks everyone. We have only just given up on Criminal Minds because some episodes are sooooo difficult to watch. I might just give this one a try.

I've seen Criminal Minds on TV, and I have friends who love Dexter. I've seen whole episodes with them. Waaay more graphic/disturbing, but much better writing, plot, characters, IMO. An entire season was about hunting a gang of men that brutally abused and then killed women. I don't think I could follow it if I were half-watching. Just my two cents.

Maia - clarifying here. Which one was more disturbing?

I've watch Dexter from the very beginning it's a good show. I love Criminal minds as well but didn't watch it this past season as I found it somewhat depressing. Most of the people that get killed on Dexter more then deserve it. Not so much with Criminal Minds or Hannibal. I tried watching Hannibal but only lasted a few eps. Also tried to watch The Following and only got past two eps. I kinda of feel Hannibal and The Following belonged more on pay channels as they are disturbing.
