Subject: Are we tempting ourselves more then we should? Date: 7/9/13 8:27 AM

My inbox on my email each morning looks like a shopper's dream as I'm signed up to get a lot of sale notices for sewing sites etc. Not to mention fabric. A lot of time I skip them but some catch my eye, hence the temptation. I would be a lot better off not subscripting. I was getting one really aggressive one from an embroidery design place that I had belonged to a while back. Every day I was getting something I finally got them to stop.

I don't find most of them tempting, I find them to typically be annoying. I have unsubscribed almost all of them because even if they are a store I like, the email blast rarely has anything I would even consider as the featured item of the email!

I do get scared that I will miss something good, but then I try to remember that I already have a lot of good stuff. :)

Today I liked the daily deal at MSQ, but finally just got out of there after adding even more stuff, and realizing I just need to stop! I have a $25 credit at a store where we'll be camping soon, so that'll have to be good enough!
I usually just delete those emails before I'm tempted. It IS waay too tempting for me. I have enough fabric, really.

I had to un-scribe to several of the sites, as I was breaking the bank each week. Just too tempting. Especially Stonehenge and a few others.

I am a Quilter at heart. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Recently I have discovered I enjoy doing applique. I love making pictures. Using a sewing machine is much easier than counted cross stitch or oil painting for me. I enjoy landscape quilting as well. I am working on my first applique project in the spring of 2014.

yeah I delete a lot of them sometimes I save them for later if I get bored at work. I would hate to see what my house would look like if I had unlimited funds for sewing. But I would be a neat hoarder like the people in the show Extreme couponing. How they have their mini stores in their basements etc.

Luckily I was logged out of PR for the last couple of days.. I have no idea how that happened.. as there is no point in me loggin out since I am just back for more reading asap.. Probably saved a lot of money just by not reading the posts here..

I don't unsubscribed.. as sometimes I do need an item from that group or from that particular site.. and its a good way to pass time if one is ill or such to look at the new offerings.. if you can be disciplined in not buying out the site.. Which I confess is not my best strength.. self discipline.. But I do receive so many emails like these that I just don't have time to look at them everyday.. so I mostly do delete them unless I am in need of a particular item I know I can buy at that site..

Funny the amount of things we didn't even know we needed till we saw one in an email..

I have several places where I shop and subscribe. I mostly ignore the emails and delete them. But to stop me from frivolous purchase, I add to a shopping cart, then delete it. I don't have to worry about DH getting on my case. I think the resistance to buy is almost equally satisfying to an actual purchase. Funny!... Except where sewing machine are involved.

I ended up like that a couple years ago after the holidays when I did a ton of online shopping and was being bombarded with emails from various venders. I didn't want to unsubscribe and miss out on deals but I also didn't want my mailbox filling up every day. My solution was to set up a folder called shopping emails and then I added filters for all those type emails. The emails get dumped right in without me seeing them but if I need to buy something, I look in the folder to see if there are any deals.

Hmmm, I thought we were posting in English. Could you please explain what the sentence above means? I have read it several times and just cannot make sense of it...
