Has anyone seen a pattern (from a drafting book, perhaps?) with a bodice like the one on this Gucci dress Salma Hayek was wearing to promote her latest movie?

(Photo from this story.

Thanks for any info!

Buy yourself a book on draping (I like Connie Crawford's), and experiment (using an inexpensive but supple silky fabric) with the fold in front until you've figured it all out. It looks to me like the garment may be on the bias.

Thanks, that's a great idea. I agree, it looks like its cut on the bias.

I think it actually has a seam down the center front bodice of it, because look at this picture of it and see if you think that is a seam there or not?

Yes, you're right -- it looks like there is a CF seam. Interesting. I am going to play around with this. Thanks, beauturbo.

It also looks folded in the front and wrapped around the neck. Interesting concept.

Looking at the new and enlarged photo, it appears there's a center front seam that extends from the bottom of the blouse but most likely does not extend all the way up. The upper portion of the blouse seems to be folded and wrapped around the neck.

To me it looks like the front is made from 2 separate pieces! The piece underneath (her left, our right) may just be a simple "wrap" kimono T (with a high neckline). It's the one on top that needs work - it appears to wrap around the neck, and may fasten in back somehow.

Or the 2 pieces may both wrap around the neck and meet in back (like the halters that cross in front of the neck)

I'd like to see a shot of the back.

ETA: Oh, here's a close up of the neck. The piece underneath does cross in fron of the neck, just like the one on top - see -

Here is the dress (or the closest I've found) on Gucci website.

Yes. That's the dress. The photos from the Gucci website give a lot of clues.

There may or may not be a center front seam that runs from the waist to the bust, but the center front is draped with a fold. The two ends at the very top of the front bodice wrap around to the back where they meet and are sewn to the bodice as they would be on a turtleneck. The cut in sleeves have a shoulder seam that runs from the neckline to the bottom of the sleeves. The back bodice has a long narrow slit opening, and the back skirt has an invisible zipper closure.

The dress fits the tall and angular Gucci model better than it fits petite but curvy Salma Hayek.
