I've become interested in these rulers by Slide Lock. But, I'm not sure I can adjust to using a ruler with no reference lines.

Does anyone have or use these rulers? Comments appreciated.

Thanks Slide Lock

We talked about it on April 5th, when I posted about it. I had seen it at a Quilt show and wanted to know if anyone had one. Someone here bought one after that and liked it very much. I have not bought one so far.

I don't know how to link the other topic to this one, sorry.

I am a Quilter at heart. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Recently I have discovered I enjoy doing applique. I love making pictures. Using a sewing machine is much easier than counted cross stitch or oil painting for me. I enjoy landscape quilting as well. I am working on my first applique project in the spring of 2014.

I've looked for links to any topics, reviews or messages using terms 'Slide Lock', 'Slidelock' and Quilters Slide Lock with no results. I would like more than one review of course. Since any discussions on the Slide Lock seem to be elusive, and perhaps there are new owner/users I have started a new topic....thanks

Thanks Patti! I've read all the postings, and I'm still hesitant. So, do you use a smaller cutting mat in conjunction with the Slide Lock. It looks like you need to turn the cutting mat so as not to disturb the fabric. Especially when cutting squares of 5", 4" etc.

There are not many reviews on the Slide Lock. But thank you and the others that commented on the previous posting.

I think it is useful but it works best with the straight (not curved) cutters. I use the Olfa cutter with the ergonomic handle and the screw hit the edge. I have solved that problem by purchasing the 60mm cutter.

If I am cutting strips or squares/rectangles the June Taylor shape cut ruler is AWESOME! Shape Cut

I got this smaller one and I want the bigger one now. It makes cutting super FAST and super easy. I wouldn't go back to lining up a ruler for individual cuts again, even if the ruler stuck to the fabric with no sliding. You still have to move it after EACH cut.

I measure what I need with my regular ruler then line up the slidelock next to it and cut.

The Shape n Cut is wonderful, I agree. But sometimes at the the end of the cut it will move. Just a tad.

Thanks everyone for your replies.

I have the big one and I love it! I have never had it slip. Once you get the hang of measuring with another ruler, clamp down the slidelock, remove the other ruler, it is fast and easy. I got it for cutting bias binding- fabulous! And I used it to cut a heavy stencil item for my husband, lots of short, straight lines, and it worked great for that.
