I may be losing my mind, but I recall somewhere a chart showing flattering skirt lengths. Like just below the knee, not at the fattest part of your calf, etc. Of course, I cannot find it anywhere now.

Does anyone know what I am thinking of or have something similar?

I don't know of a chart but I'd love to see one.

One thing I read was to take a large piece of poster board and hold it in from of you (wearing undies, short shorts, or something similar and the shoes you'd wear with the garment you're considering). Move the board up and down nothing places that are especially flattering to you. (adding you do this while looking in a full length mirror...)

If I'm remembering correctly, the article said you'll find at least 2 or 3 lengths that look great on you.

Using the board took everything out of the mix so that you could judge just the length and not be thrown off by color, fabric, etc.

I'd take that calculator with a grain of salt. It assumes you are perfectly proportioned. I think it would make a difference if you have longer or shorter than average legs.

I am going for a level of perfection that is only mine... Most of the pleasure is in getting that last little piece perfect...Inspiration is for amateurs. The rest of us just keep showing up and doing the work.

Agreed.

For instance:
The longest 'knee length' skirt would be a mini on me.
And the 'maxi' recommended length would only be an inch longer than my preferred midi length.

But it does give you a range to consider.

Unfortunately I can't include all body variations into my calculator, but I've been using it quite successfuly for a while. Thank you for mentioning it!

Thanks. The calculator was what I was remembering. I think I will try combining the chart with the large paper
