Take a look at what I saw on a dress in a store.

Now guess where I saw it.

Macy's

Thousands of dollars for poor stitching and fraying fabric.

Perhaps it's a design feature???! I would like that because then the last pants I made could be said to have that very same feature
LOL

The "windowpane" is supposed to be a hemstitch, I think. But the fraying? Or maybe that's the selvege and they are trying to find a way to cut corners and use their selveges.

I should add, this is on the pocket area of the dress, you can't really see it in the full length shot.

Was it like that on the pocket on the other side of the dress and also on the loose layer band on the top too? If so, I guess distressed seams are popular now, but it does seem weird that they would go to all the time and trouble to put that sort of chain stitched open work fagoting insert in there, then have what looks like some just stay stitching under it, and then what looks like not finished off and should be inside a raw unfinshed edge as to not cause a lump showing. If it was not like that on other pocket and also matching side and top of dress too, then I think it just has to be a sewing error, and they got just a front side piece flipped around the wrong way (inside out) when sewing it.

I wonder what the tag says inside that dress? Maybe it's not even a Escada one even if on a form in front of those words on a window at Macy's?

If a sewing error, think about how many people must of missed it, people sewing it, inspectors, whom ever unpacked it at Macy's and even worse the actual window dresser or whomever had their hands on it and actually had to take time to even put it on the mannequin. How could all those separate people even not notice?

I don't see anyone else on line, even selling an Escada dress that looks like that at all, I'm kind of wondering if it really is one or not?

This was at a freestanding Escada store, not Macy's.

If it's in a window display of an Escada store, it's certainly an Escada. And not a construction mistake.

O.K. I get it, I thought it was at Macy's. So in that case, I guess it has to be Escada if only a Escada store. I wonder why I can't find that exact Escada dress anyplace on Escada website or places that sell Escada stuff though, as I actually wanted to see what the other side of the dress looked like, and that other matching or not pocket too.

I like deconstructed seams sometimes, but on that one with that fabric, and particular that fagoting in between and only that straight stitching under it, and then the raw edge just cut and not even frayed on purpose (which might make it look better I guess) I do think that is an unattractive finish if it's on purpose.
