This pattern calls for a knit. What type of knit adds a bit of "poofiness" to the skirt, without a crinoline or petticoat.

Girl child would like the long sleeved version for back to school.

The cut of the fabric is what causes the "poof", but using a cotton/spandex jersey will give a slightly less clingy/droopy look over a rayon/lycra.

I wouldn't go with polyester...cling. An ITY polyester will have less cling.

View B calls for an underlining and that will help it to stand out
B: Lace Knit. Underlining B: Tricot.
Seems like alot of work for a knit dress, lol

My grandmother taught me to sew when I was 10, and I've been sewing ever since.
