Craftsy is having a sale. Some classes are $9.99 & $14.99, but most are more than I want to pay right now. I am interested in the Inset & Appliqué Circles by Machine class at $14.99. Has anyone taken it or know anything about the instructor, Cheryl Arkison?

Her class Diamond Quilt Designs is on sale for $9.99. The class includes her e-book, Quick Diamond Quilts and Beyond.
Thanks

I bought the circle class yesterday. I'm about halfway through it. I found it useful- I had never inset a circle before. I had done circle applique before and it was nothing new.

Totally worth it for $15.

There has only been two classes I didn't like on Craftsy- the log cabin art quilt background class (wasn't what I expected) and the sew everything studio (wasn't the name, but that was the book) class- which was way too basic.

I highly recommend people pick up Pictorial Quilting, Stupdendous Stitching, Painting a Quilt, Thread Painting while they are on sale.

I really wanted to buy the quilted feather class- but it was still more than I wanted to spend. But I got the "big projects small scraps" (or something like that); it goes over needle turn applique, which if I can find the straw needles I bought, I desperately need instruction in.

Merry G,
Thanks for the heads up on Jan Krentz's class. This one is a super duper winner. She has great delivery. Her instructions are clear and accurate and she has so many general tips that I haven't seen in other classes. This is certainly one of the best craftsy classes I've taken (I own more than a few). I mean - MY GOODNESS!!!

I put a class by Leah Day in my cart. I did not pay for it yet, though. It will go on sale soon, but it is not on the list for sale today. It is on beginning quilting. I would like to learn to do the quilting part and go beyond just the stitch in the ditch I know how to do now.

I am a Quilter at heart. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Recently I have discovered I enjoy doing applique. I love making pictures. Using a sewing machine is much easier than counted cross stitch or oil painting for me. I enjoy landscape quilting as well. I am working on my first applique project in the spring of 2014.

Learn to Sew- I LOVE craftsy, and highly recommend the class for the interactive platform (I have heard Leah does a really good job of answering questions there) but, until it goes on sale, have you gone to Leah's website? View her youtube videos, go to the 365 designs and select the beginner ones, and watch how she makes them.

That was how I learned how to quilt, a year ago- and now my FMQing is in an AQS show...

Leah's 'just do it' attitude is so empowering to learn to quilt. You just need to go back into her archives. (I also highly recommend her wholecloth mini-project if you want to learn to micro-quilt; she teaches you to trace the design and fill it in. And the tutorials are all free.)

I do not think I have visited her site more than once. I Should do that. I'll do it now and put in FAv's on the laptop I am currently using.

I put in it FAv's and on my desktop so I will remember it. I need all the help I can get remembering things lately.
