Hi guys! Now that I stopped blogging I have loads more time for sewing and I've found the best fitting book ever. Truly. Every pair of pants I've made since buying this book have *fit.* I am planning to sell back ALL my other fitting books to Amazon.
It is Natalie Bray's "More Dress Pattern Designing." It is actually a drafting book not a fitting book. And it is about 50 years old. But, oh boy is it good! It's a little tough to follow, and I am sure I haven't understood it fully, but even the little bit I have gleaned has made a massive difference in my sewing. I haven't had a wadder since buying this book. And I bought it for 6 from Abe Books. Incredible.
I am so delighted, I just had to share this tip with anyone else who finds fitting a nightmare. Here are a couple of links:

Does anyone else have this book? Am I crazy? Or do you love it?

It's a three volume set--dress pattern designing, more dress pattern designing, and (iirc) dress fitting. I don't have the third volume (yet). The first explains how to draft the bodice draft, from scratch, among other things

I have the first two. The second is the most helpful for me because it goes through pants which is my personal challenge. I didn't know there was a third book. Thanks for the heads up, Andye!

Do you find the books useful?

Useful? Yes. But I seem to collect these sorts of books... Horde might be better term since my copy of "More Dress Pattern Designing" is not very collectible.

Ah, at the moment I am so taken with mine, that I think I won't need to buy any more, ever again!

But then, there is always something better just at the end of the rainbow:-)
