Ordered during their recent sale. This and Jet Brown Boiled Wool Coating Item #24697 (now sold out) are not boiled wool at all. It's a heavy weight sweater knit which does not look like it was boiled/felted, is not dense at all, is very stretchy, with bad recovery. The edges unravel. Very disappointing, especially with no free shipping
Just FYI.

Thanks for the heads up. Are you going to return it? Is it possible they sent you the wrong items? Wonder how their customer service is?

Sorry this happened to you. I really don't like getting bad purchases from online sales...so hard to return when shipping cost is on the customer.

Thank you. The items they sent are the items I ordered. It's just that the descriptions on the website were completely wrong. In addition, on the packing slip the care code for the "boiled wool" was 3 "machine wash warm, tumble dry", instead of dry clean... Not going to return the fabrics, it doesn't make much sense because I am paying shipping twice (almost 30% of the fabric cost). Customer service lady was nice, but confirmed that I am responsible for the return shipping. She said I could send it back with a note explaining the reason for return, and if they agree, than the return shipping would be credited.
It's not worth it, still losing the original shipping $$ even in the best scenario.
I wish they would pay more attention to the fabric descriptions on their site, and had more knowledge of the fabrics they sell. Boiled wool is one of my all time favorite fabrics, I was so thrilled to find it, especially in so many colors. Oh well...Right now I am washing the Jet Brown knit in hope that it will felt a bit, but my hopes are quickly diminishing. Awful amount of lint is coming out of the washer, the knit is practically disintegrating.

Sorry this happened to you Lyl. How is it legal for them to sell you boiled wool coating and then send something else? Have you contacted your CC company?

Something similar happened to me with Fabric.com. They had some fabric listed as "silk seersucker". I bought a little to make a top but when it came it was like China silk, not puckered or seersucker like at all. I emailed CS, they admitted they had listed the fabric wrong, credited my CC, and let me keep the fabric. Now that's some good CS!

I happen to like Denver Fabrics (they're super for the extra lightweight fine fabrics I use for doll sewing) but I'm going to be extra cautious ordering from them in light of your experience. I know it's a simple mistake on their part but it really seems fraudulent to advertise one thing and send out another.

Exactly what Chemical posted...this does seem fraudulent. To describe it as boiled wool and to be dry cleaned (what would be expected care for boiled wool)...then send what was sent and to instruct to machine wash...and in addition it's linting in the washer to next to nothing...this all seems wrong on their part.

Seems like customer service would want to make this right with the least cost and trouble to you.

This fabric was not cheap and shouldn't be a white elephant for you to be stuck with.

I would at least write a letter asking for free return and/or credit and perhaps include a small sample plus a copy of the web description. Ask them to update it for accuracy. You never know- they may give you something to make up for it.

I think you should call Denver Fabrics (aka Fashion Fabrics Club) again. Ask to speak to the manager and explain that the fabrics you received were not boiled wool as stated on their website. Tell them that you are going to return the fabrics and you want the company to pay for both the outgoing and incoming postage, as well as the product refund.

If they do not agree, remind them that the Federal Trade Commission requires that products including fabrics be accurately described and maintains a Consumer Complaint website where consumers can file reports against companies that do not describe those products and fabrics accurately. State that you intend to file this report unless you receive your refund.

Denver Fabrics/Fashion Fabrics Club does offer many beautiful fabrics. However to prevent disappointment, I always purchase a 1/8 yard cut of fabric before I place my order because not all their fabrics are good ones.

I too ordered the plum/purple boiled wool. The description said slight texture. It is hideous, and looks like a bad tie dyed job, or someone spilled bleach on it. The color is mottled and not in a good way. I thought about returning it, but like you, the shipping is 30% of the fabrics cost. I have had bad luck with them before, and vowed to never order from them again, but ... Thought the boiled wool at 15.00 a yard was a great deal, but it just looks like they are selling goods that are inferior. I will stick to fabric mart fabrics for future online purchases.

Called DF again, and decided to return the fabrics. Was told they would credit original shipping too, if the fabric is defective/incorrectly represented. Cut couple of swatches from the real boiled wool fabric in my stash, and sending them along. Besides not being boiled wool, both DF fabrics are not usable/wearable at all. When you slightly pull on the pile, big clamps of "hair" come out.
Thank you to everybody for their advice, agree 200%.
Will update after getting the DF answer.
