Why you don't need short rows in knitting

(scroll down to see pictures done wrong (blue) and done right (maroon).

A short row in knitting produces the darts that are on the side like we see in V8151.

I *think* she is saying to manipulate the knitting so the increases/decreases would be like waist darts (only she's adding stitches - and therefore width - over the bust).

I need time to read it again and I was busy all day and will be gone tomorrow. I'll try to come back to this thread late tomorrow or Friday when I get back home.

It was too good not to share (especially seeing the difference in her sweaters. Amy is a published author and her book is on Amazon's "Best Books of 2013" list.

I find I need both the extra width AND the extra length to get an even hemline at the bottom of my tops (knit or sewn). I think which adjustments work really depend on an individual's unique shape.

It is good to see designers writing about fitting, which wasn't as much the case when I was younger.
