I've looked here at reviews and ebay listings etc...but I haven't been able to figure it out. The face plate of course, but what about the workings? Thanks.

On the last page of this spec sheet, some differences show up.

Bernina 635 comes with a few odd feet (couching, circular embroidery), doesn't include two of the more mundane ones (overlock, manual buttonhole), and the stitch patterns are different.

I bought the 630 over 635. Main difference was just the face plate which I did not care for anyway...hopefully someone has a more precise answer.

There aren't any major differences, it's mostly cosmetic. I think the 635 comes with a few different built in embroideries, and a few different feet. If I remember right, the 630 actually offers a bit more, but really it's the same machine, much like the 830 and the 830LE. It's just a marketing gimmick to extend the life of the same machine.

I had the 635. The differences are the face plate (which I preferred over the 630), different embroidery designs, 2 additional fonts, circular sewing attachment, no #2 foot.

Does anyone know of a link to show the circular sewing attachment? I don't think my 635 came with one (got it used).

Never mind - I found the link:

http://www.bernina.com/en-US/Products-us/BERNINA-products-us/BERNINA-Accessories-us/Special-sewing-accessories-us/Circular-embroidery-attachment-en

I've never seen this before, or maybe I thought it was something else. Anyway, looks fun. Kinda reminds me of when we used to draw circles by using a piece of yarn with one end tied to a thumb tack, and a pencil tied to the other end. Well, OK, maybe this is a bit more sophisticated.

Also like the 350 and 350 Special Edition. Bernina seems to like doing this, so these cosmetic facelifts must be pretty successful. At least with the 830LE, there were only 4,000 machines produced and we got a trip to Chicago (we had to pay for our transportation) for the 2-day 830LE VIP Retreat plus 1000 extra embroidery designs.

The 635 did not have the #2 foot? I love that foot. Easy overcasting on anything I tried. I love my 630 and I am so glad I bought it.

I am a Quilter at heart. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Recently I have discovered I enjoy doing applique. I love making pictures. Using a sewing machine is much easier than counted cross stitch or oil painting for me. I enjoy landscape quilting as well. I am working on my first applique project in the spring of 2014.
