The last few rolls I've purchased have a very strong smell and the tape doesn't stick worth a darn. Did the formulation change? Has anyone else noticed this?

Yes, it's different now... Not as great as before methinks.

I noticed it too. The color isn't clear and it is harder to peel off the tape. It didn't stick either. I use to love this stuff. I hope they change it back.

Plus, it doesn't always wash out and makes a shiny hot mess on your newly made garment!

Oh no! I just bought my first roll because of reading good reviews. I read that it made zipper placement easier.

Which brand are you referring to, Collins or Dritz? Jo-Ann's carries Dritz and I don't like it as well. It's much stickier than Collins so if you need to reposition, it tends to stretch knits out. Last year, I ordered a box of six (Collins) so I'm set for a while.

I didn't realize there were two kinds! I bought mine at JoAnn's, so I'm going to assume it's Dritz. It's definitely not overly sticky, though. In fact, it barely sticks to anything (other than my fingers when I'm trying to reposition it on the fabric that it won't stick to!). I'll try to find some Collins to if that works better.

Where can you find the Collins? Thought I had some but I don't and was thinking of using it for a project.

I have Collins and it's the one that did not wash out from my zipper application. I'm going to try Steam A Steam next time. Lots of reviewers on PR rave about it. Here is the discussion:

I am not sure which brand I use but it definitely doesn't stick as well as it did before. What I do now is once I put the sticky side down on my fabric, I run my finger across the paper side a few times to get it to stick better. It seems to help to do this.
