I'm really interested in what these are like quality wise and very excited to see that fabric.com is carrying some better quality stuff (maybe they'll start stocking silks other than dupioni). Hopefully this signals a change at the company since they are all reorderable. Thoughts?

The batistes are all cotton and come at three different price points: $25.98/yard for Nelona, $14.98 for "Satin Batiste", and $5.98 to $6.98 for the "Imperial" depending on width. The colors are baby pastels and whites for the Nelona and Satin but the Imperial has some deeper/unique colors.

Do you think the Nelona is the same as what Martha Pullen sells? If you've bought batiste from them before, how was the quality? I'm really itching to buy some and need justification

BTW, I am not affiliated

Fabric.com is a wonderful online store; you cannot go wrong when you order. But as an aside, can you order a Swatch of the Nelona? Then you could see if it it what you want or not. Just an idea. But really, if you order from them, the Nelona if not exactly the same, would still be a good deal. And $35 order gives you free shipping! Can't beat it! Good luck. I've ordered from them many (many!) times over the last few years and have had great experiences with fabric.com.

Fabric.com also has a fabulous return policy if you don't like what you got.

As usual you all are supreme enablers

I am going to force myself to wait at least until I can figure out $40 of stuff to order so I can get the free shipping + 10% off (code corner13). Since all I sew is doll clothes these days that's a little difficult!

Search the coupon sites for their discounts too, I have found others besides their own for 25% + the free shipping. Note, they cut very generously, often 1/4 yd. over per piece and more.
What size dolls are you sewing for? I just discovered a lot of free patterns online for Barbie-sized clothing.

Ooops I just realized corner13 is one time use only-- I guess I'll be searching those sites, Gramma B

BTW, I'm sewing for a YoSD sized doll called a Rosen Lied Tuesday's Child Beige. Here's a pic of her from the company website:

She's about 10.5 inches tall and her frame is like that of a toddler so you can imagine that all the batistes would be perfect for her and that 1/2 a yard is plenty. Do you sew for Barbies?

So I caved and the first part of my order came in today. I got the Satin batiste in white which is very very nice but not as sheeny as the Pima Petticoat batiste but we'll see how they look once they come out of the washer and dryer. The Imperial batiste is surprisingly nice for being under $6/yard. I got the red and the rose and the colors are clear and bright. What I'm really in love with tho is the cotton crepe shirting-- I adore the way this feels! It's sheer and very lightweight... wish they had a heavier, opaque version of this for people clothes . Tomorrow my order with the Nelona batiste comes in- I can't wait to see what that's like!

The Nelona is totally WOW!!!! I cannot believe how gorgeous it is. It practically glows, the sheen on this is just amazing and the feel is incredibly soft. Now I understand the price tag. I wonder what it will be like once I wash it.

As for the Satin batiste, once it came out of the dryer, it did indeed have a gorgeous sateen type look. Very pretty and much sheenier than the Pima Petticoat which is fab in its own right.

I have to say that I'm pretty thrilled with all my fabrics
