I'm debating between these two machines. I've tried them both, can get a decent price on both, and both are sold by the same dealer.

I was wondering for those of you who have these machines, can anyone offer any additional insight about them. They seem similar in many ways yet different, and they're both really nice. I'm an advanced sewer, have done lots of high end garment and machine embroidery projects (not much of a quilter), and not worried about a "learning curve" with either machine. Thanks for any input!

In a word...or 3 letters...IDT.

The Pfaff has the integrated dual feed. Worth the machine's weight in gold, imo!

Wait until September. A new Viking Diamond is supposed to be coming out and you may get a better price if you go with Viking. I'm waiting to see the new Sapphire.

I agree on the three letter non-word.... IDT

And knee lift.

Glad I don't like purple that much.

as has already been said, the main difference is the PCS has the IDT and a Knee Lift. I was also told that the PCS takes a few extra steps on the screen to get something done. my understanding is that the HVDDD is now like hens teeth(hard to find). not sure about the PCS. i took a survey on the HV Ruby Deluxe, and was blown away on the ease of use and the final results.

I have the PCS and I love it. Also have the 7570.
IDT and active stitch technology is wonderful. the screen is large as well.
Less that wonderful, the threader is still a bit of a challenge and the touch buttons can be annoying at times.

The embroidery machine attachment is wonderful as well.

ActivStitchTM Technology – Delivers precise stitches on a wide variety of fabrics even with challenging novelty threads. Sensors measure the fabric thickness to regulate the amount of thread needed to achieve perfect balance between the needle and bobbin threads.

 The original IDT TM system – Integrated Dual Feed only from PFAFF® for over 40 years! Absolutely even fabric feed from both the top and the bottom.

• Precise positioning – Place every embroidery design exactly where you want it. Easily match multiple hoopings to create embroideries of unlimited size.

I have used the Precise positioning and it's wonderful!! very easy as well.

Good Luck on your decision!

Thanks so much to ALL of you for your comments, MUCH appreciated. Well, it appears that the Pfaff is pretty popular around here I've had just about every brand of machine except Pfaff, so I've never had the built-in IDT. I've had machines with the knee lift and find I "forget" to use it, so that's not a huge factor. I am leaning towards the Pfaff for all the reasons mentioned. I know the needle threader can be pouty, but other than that, it seems like a very enjoyable machine!
