I'm searching for a suit or business jacket pattern for my slim college age son. Any ideas?

Pammy, how about this from Burda. It starts at a 34" chest, which is the very smallest you'll find in an adult male size. You may have to lengthen it, of course, but the places to lengthen it will be marked on the pattern. Burda patterns are usually well-drafted, though the instructions leave something to be desired.

Burda 7046

I agree with Peter that the fit in Burda will be slimmer than Vogue or other American patterns.

Thanks Peter and Nancy for chiming in. That looks like a possibility. :-) Good to know Burda runs slimmer than Vogue. I haven't really sewn anything for my son since he was little, so this is going to be a challenge.

An earnest search of etsy or ebay is on my to-do list for today. Maybe there's a teen suit pattern out there that would only need lengthening and/or lapel changing. Here's hoping. :-)

Thanks again for your replies.

Here's another Burda suit suggestion. I notice it starts at size 36, so it might have to be sized down slightly if he's really slim. Although the finished measurements might be similar to the other suit... sometimes this happens.

Burda 7194

P.S. re Peter's "you might have to lengthen it" -- on men's patterns, Burda lengths go up with the size, so the smaller sizes are shorter. Not sure why. I've had to lengthen Burda patterns for my son for this reason, too. There should be a chart on the tissue showing what height the pattern is designed for.
