Any input on a baby lock symphony machine. I sew on a phaff 2034 I'm thinking of upgrading.

I think the Symphony is a nice machine, and you would certainly see a lot of technological advances with lighting, computerization, more memory options, and number of stitches (and more). However, I wouldn't do it.

It isn't worth it to me to give up the IDT and the beautiful straight stitch on the 2034.

it doesn't matter what type of sewing you do. you are sewing, and sewing is good.
