Hi All!
I'm pretty excited! We're back in Canada and stopped to visit my aunt and uncle. I mentioned that I had purchased the Janome Sewist 521 in Panama. She said she has a sewing machine. She's had it for awhile and rarely uses it. She needs to make a duvet cover for a queen sized duvet. I offered to make it for her on my daughter's Bernina 200/730 e. she said "I want you to have my machine because you'll take care of it." She wanted me to take it today, but the trunk was full and I've got lots to do right now. I wish I'd made room. What if she changes her mind?
It's soooooo pretty. It's pale blue. Even the cord is blue. And it comes with a bunch of "fashion disks" for making different stitches. It doesn't have a case though.
It was made in 1964 in Great Britain. It only had one previous owner who died. Then her husband retired and had an auction and moved away.
I'm am going to get started on that duvet cover first thing tomorrow, so I can take it back to her and pick up that machine before she changes her mind.

Seems like a very pretty sewing machine (looked on ebay)...and lots of good memories over all these years. I think you will take good care of it too.

Got the curtains done yet? Gone to your aunt's and got the sm yet?

Edited to correct: Meant to type duvet cover...not curtains.

I love the color - and it even has blue cord! Sounds like a perfect machine.

Tell us all about it when you get it.

Hi BestGrammy,
Nope. The duvet cover isn't done yet. When we got to my daughter's it was late. In the morning I saw that the flannel my aunt wants to use has not yet been washed. I'm not sure when she got it, but it was smelly. In the laundry room, I saw that "someone" had kindly left me about 8 loads of laundry to do. Plus thistles in the garden as high as my knee and all the flowers needing to be dead headed. The house is under renovations, so I get the non-renovation related tasks, and I'm not working, so I "have time."
In the evening, there was a birthday party at my sister's house. That was actually very pleasant, and no bending over was required.
So, no sewing yet.

Yes PortlandMaine!
I thought that the matching blue cord was just the cutest thing! I actually thought "Since they made the cord matching blue, why not go the extra mile and make the foot pedal blue too?" But, it'll be covered by my slipper-clad foot anyway when I'm using it.
