Hi, I used to belong to some yahoo groups. I did not go on them for a long time, and now have to create a new account. It looks like they require a cell number in order to create the account. I'm not willing to give my birthdate and cell number, so I'm wondering if there's another way to get to Sew It's For Sale and the Bernina groups without doing the Yahoo sign up? Thanks.

You could give a false DOB and the phone # is optional. I don't use my real information other than my given name on any website.

When I joined a number of Yahoo groups and needed to get a yahoo account, I was given the option to sign in using either a facebook or google login, as well as signing up for yahoo separately. Were you given this option, and is it one that would work better for you?
ie. rather than entering a yahoo id and password, I just click the 'google' button.

There are requirements now by FCC cracking down on real people having email. Trying to clean up the world of spammers.
That starts by making email account holders be trackable. For a mailbox at the PO its the same- prove you are who you say you are.
For now you can avoid real DOBs. Yahoo and Gmail cannot issue accounts to under age 14. Zilladog can do any age but it must be tied to an adult verified account.
Spam, Fraud and Abuse can be prosecuted but only if it can be traced. So if you do want to use use services then think about why you are providing your information. It is not being sold or marketed, it is to protect their service offerings from illegal activities and folks out to create harm to others.
Nothing is perfect of course and its your call if you want to give correct information. Like anything, you can give a stranger you meet a fake name and phone and they will never know. But if you want to have a relationship for the long term eventually you should reach a stage where you can be truthful.
