I made this quilt for a retired postal worker. She wanted something very simple and charming. Im very happy with it, now that I added an additional line to divide the squares in the pics in half. The extra quilting added some rigidity to the quilt. It was limp and store bought comforter feeling before. Im sure now, when it is washed and dried, it will have the feeling I like quilts to have.

The straight line quilting worked out really well this time. I dont know if there is more than 1 pucker on the whole top.

For some reason my machine was making the best stitches today.

I often have slanted stitches I cant seem to learn how to make go away.

Anyhow - I think she will be happy with her quilt. It is 80 by 80. I would have liked for it to have been 90 by 90.

Oh --

There is some extra detail that shows up in person that the pic did not pic up. The lighter blocks are pieced blocks fromt he work clothes.

My camera had died - but after a rest decided to give me enough juice for one more pic - this is how the quilt looks after I added another strip of SS quilting. I did not use a walking foot.

wow - Im having a hard time getting this right tonight.

Oh I like your close up of the stitches! Amazing when they just "feel" like the tension and everything is going smooth.

Love Love how her striped shirts were added in, she is going to Love this! Agree with the extra line making it a bit stiffer, that will wash and feel better on top of her for sure.

I've got a free pattern for a 90 1/2" x 90 1/2" been wanting to sew for months! Bought the larger cut squares lol 6 1/2" since they were in the colors I wanted, and cheaper than buying the yardage and making a big mistake in cutting. So in your pile of the stripes, they look soft - did you have to give them starch?

She will be thrilled with this Portland - Thanks!

I got really lucky - the shirts were a stiff cotton/poly blend.

The squares started off at 5 inches square - went together fast. Make the quilt youve been thinking of making!

That is so cool to use her old work shirts!

Love this quilt!

Isn't it just so much fun when our machines behave in stellar fashion? Just adds to the joy of using them.
