Hi:

What are your recommendations for kid's PJ's using a cotton fabric. I found some great fabric and am going to make all the girls/ladies in the family some PJ pants for Christmas. I have a couple of adult patterns but none for kids. Relative beginner sewer so easy would be great. Thanks.

Jennifer

They're basically all the same, so just wait for the 99 cents sales or find one in a thrift store. **Fast and easy for kids are the ones with no side seams. Get the kids' waist sizes for the elastic, as pattern measurements don't always consider thin or chubby waists. Zigzag/serge over all seams for double strength.

My GK's want to wear their PJ pants all the time when I make them in superheroes, princesses, cartoon characters-whatever their current craze. Cottons for summer and cozy flannels for winter. Be sure to add pockets for treasures, the big J-shaped ones are great for little cars etc. and easy (unlike cargos) because they're sewn into the side seam.
S 2907 and 4388, McCalls 3599 for instance.
BUT, there are also lots of freebies to print out online, Google and also look under Tutorials.

I second the vote for Kwik Sew. They have a really nice selection of basics and, in my experience, the instructions are always very clearly written.

Thanks for the suggestions. I forget about Kwik Sew. Since they are not till xmas, I will keep my eye out at the thrift stores and sales and hopefully find one.
