Hi Everyone!
I have a blouse whose neckline in the front only is a little high. I want to lower it about 1.5 inches. It's made from a silky non stretch fabric. I don't want to alter the back neckline. Is there anyway to do this without changing the back? The neckline has a seam at each shoulder. Can I just open the front neckline to the shoulder seam? Thank you!!

Patti

Not knowing just what your pattern looks like, I'm thinking you could measure down 1.5 inches at center front and then redraft the neckline from center front to the existing neckline at the front neck seam edge. HTH

Could you post a photo? That would help. Thanks.

Same principle applies to altering RTW.

I found this video on You Tube about changing necklines.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nB0dzhox160&list=PLA4F5A850C2FC9A19

She starts with the point under the armpit and then draws a line across the bodice then makes different necklines using that point.

I donít know if this answers your question but maybe itíll give you a place to start.

The thing is she doesn't want the neckline changed in the back or by the shoulder seams. Just lower in the front. It's a none stretch fabric. I was going to open the neckline, trim it lower and then fold it or if it looks bumpy use bias tape to get it smooth. Does that sound like it would work?
