What is it with boots these days???? All the shorter shaft ones (about 5-6") have some embellishment at the ankle!!!! I wear a size 10 and I don't need embellishment at the ankle to make my legs look larger!!! Then there is the heel height!!! Why can't I find an all leather black, low heel, plain stylish ankle boot that is comfortable, and will remain in style and not break the bank!!!
(I have been looking for this boot for 2-3 years........)

Amen to that! I am tall and wear an 10 or 11. If I finally find something I love, they are all sold out of my size!
I have had luck lately with Long Tall Sally. I'm not sure if it available in the States.

Check out Macys, they have a few. Today only you can buy a pass for $5.00
(goes to charity) and get an extra 25% off. My sister and I love this event, because you can use it for brands they don't normally let you use a coupon for.

Thanks for that link, Connie! I am going to send it to my size 11 DD in the UK. She will love some of those boots.

I met a woman once who had long, narrow feet who made a point of always having one bank account with money in it for shoes, so that if she ever found any that fit, she could buy multiples. Great idea if you can afford it and be disciplined to not spend it on other things.

I have had good luck with the Merrell brand in shoes. They hold up to lots of real walking and are comfortable. I have had their Moab shoes for two years now and hike in the Colorado rockies with them for summer.

These ankle boots look nice.

There is something strange about the fact that simple, unadorned low boots are tremendously hard to find. From my standpoint, this has been then case for some forty years!

However, Mephisto does have a couple of models that are near the mark. One is the Fiducia. It does have a lcollar that appears to be turned down, but that is only cosmetic. Even in Europe, it is hard to find it in all smooth leather. Usually, part of it is suede and part is smooth. I did find an all-smooth pair on a trip recently, and would have bought them in a heartbeat if the store had had them in black, but they did not.

They were about the most comfortable little boots I have ever had on my feet, though--just wonderful in that department, and very sleek looking. Mephistos are almost always very pricey, but sales do occur.

I tried those on....too big & wide.....unfortunately! They were comfortable. Mephistos are a hit & miss with me. Thanks for the pics & suggestion. They are great shoes but worth the price as they do last.

Merrells are nice shoes. Some fit me and others don't. These would be great in the outdoors. I am looking for some to wear in to meetings, work, etc. Thanks!
