I'm looking for the perfect wiggle dress pattern. Preferably modern, with a boat or square neck.

I'm not a fan of Gertie's pattern. It's great if you have a full bust, but I don't.

Any suggestions?

I've made vogue 8408 which is fairly fitted, and has a boat neck with a real statement collar.

I'd class it as a wiggle dress, as that's what I have to do to get in/out of it!

You might try McCall 2401. It has various neckline and sleeve options and can easily be made as fitted as you wish and is super easy. I made this up a couple years ago and love it. Caution though, that square neckline is lower and wider than it looks and I had trouble with keeping my bra concealed.

I was also going to say McCall's 2401 or McCall's 5971. I made the 2401 in a boat neck and it worked out great. 5971 has a sweetheart neckline, but you could change it to whatever you like. 5971 is not really a sheath, though, and much more fitted than the 2401.

I've made McCall's 2401 many times and my wife loves them but it's not a wiggle dress. It's a basic sheath with a straight skirt with the hem width equal to the hip width. You could play with the seam allowances on it to make it a wiggle dress I'm sure.

Thanks all! Some great suggestions, but nothing that quite does it for me yet.

McCalls 5845 used to be my go-to pattern for this, but I've misplaced my copy and now it's out of print

I really am looking for a wiggle dress, which for me means a waist seam, so that you get that bust/waist/hip definition.

Hi,

I don't have a favorite (looking for all those TNTs too!), but here are some from Vogue, all with waist seams:
Vogue 8766
Vogue 8667
Vogue 8648
Vogue 8280
Vogue 8902

BurdaStyle will more than likely come out with one or two in the coming months; if you're in a hurry maybe peruse their online selection?

Have you tried ebay or etsy to replace your missing pattern. Sometimes the only thing that will do is what we once had... Good luck on your search.

I've made the Simplicity 2648 "Amazing Fit" sheath once and thought it looked nice. The neck is V or round, but it should be easily altered.
