Well, I bit the bullet and bought the new Dream Creator VM5100 combo machine. This is the first Brother machine I have ever owned. I am in love with all the great things it can do. I was torn between this machine and the Dream Weaver. One thing I am a little disappointed about is that on the Brother website it lists that this machine has the "Sew Straight Laser Vision Guide" on the overview tab. Actually a feature I was leaning towards on the Dream Weaver but needless to say it does not have the laser guide or maybe I just can't find it. But it's not in the owner's manual which leads me to believe it doesn't have this feature. Otherwise, awesome machine for sewing and embroidery. I have already made a purse and embroidered on it. I think in the future I'll invest in the drop light foot.

Congratulations! I'm picking my DreamCreator up tomorrow. It was a tough decision between this one and the DreamWeaver but I'm happy with my decision. I've always used Brother/Babylock machines and they're wonderful! I strayed for a short time with a Viking SE/LE. It was a lovely machine but I prefer the ease of use, layout and automatic threader of the Brother machines. Yay us!! Oh, and you're right; the Creator doesn't come with the Sew Straight Laser Guide. Must be a glitch on the promo ad. :(.

Congrats. You'll be very happy with the machine.

I have the DreamWeaver and the embroidery unit hasn't been off of it very often. I think you'll be very happy with your choice. The laser is pretty cool, but the embroidery is out of this world.

No it doesn't have the laser or the pen. You can actually see that on the page that shows all the v-series machines

Hi,

I have the DreamWeaver, and looking at the stats on Brother website, I don't think the DreamCreator has the laser light beam.

The information I couldn't find is how much does the DreamCreator weigh?

Congratulations on your new machine! I love my DreamWeaver.

Hi Maytulip32!

I just bought the Dream Creator XE as well! I'd been doing so much research I thought my head would explode. I finally decided I would just go with the old 1500D when this machine caught my eye at the Dealer's. It hasn't come in yet, so I haven't had the chance to use it. There are two optional pieces you can get for the machine; one is the SA196 Mu-Vit walking foot and the other is the SA197 Droplight Embroidery Foot with LED Pointer. I was interested in the Mu-Vit foot, and will get it at a later date because they are pricey! I didn't ask at the time about the Laser Light, although it might be nice to have. If you go to the link for the Dream Creator XE and look under optional feet you'll find both there. The light isn't quite what you've listed above, but it may be what you're looking for. Sadly, there wasn't a picture of it, although you might find it with the item number SA197 under parts? I don't know. I would love to know if you've used denim on it yet and how it's handled it. I can't wait for mine to arrive! Anyway, here's the link I was talking about

Happy sewing/embroidering!

Hello Gcandy,

I just read your post and noticed that you are experienced with Babylock machines. I've only had Kenmore and Janome. I just posted a message today, and I'm in need of urgent advice as I'm ready to purchase. I would really appreciate if you could take a look at my post pasted below and offer your advice. Thanks!

"After almost 20 years with my Janome MC3000, I have finally decided to invest in a new machine. I had it narrowed down to the Janome 9900, the Brother VM5100 and the Babylock Ellegante 3. I have to say after testing all three and looking at the features I'm in love with the Ellegante 3. However, since it's been soooo long since I've bought a machine I need the expert advice that you all have here. Babylock now has new machines out, and no longer makes the Ellegante. I was offered a price of $3995 for this machine brand new and want to know if this is a good price. Another dealer (more of a retailer actually) has a floor model, but her price was higher than the new one! If she will go lower than the $3995 (which I will have to drive over an hour to get) I would love to take the slightly used machine. I would appreciate any advice and suggestions anyone has. Thanks!"
