Last year I bought top because I liked the fabric. But every time I put it on, I rip it off because the proporrtions are all wrong. I'd like to make a top out of similar fabric - But WHAT kind of fabric is it? I dont know! What does it look like to you?
aw man. I just tried to inset a picture. Seems like the only way to show an image is to have it posted to a website? Sigh. Sorry. I'll try to describe it.
Its a not-very-stretchy knit. Smooth on the backside. And equally smooth on the front except where the velveteen design is. I dont know how they did the velveteen design - the back is so smooth it cant be part of the knit. From a distance the design could look like burnout. But it isnt see through and it doesnt have any thin spots.
You might have a top like this yourself. 2-3 years ago JCPenny and Dressbarn had TONS of tops made out of this stuff. I never saw many people wearing them, but they were all over the store in striking color combinations. Never saw any in a fabric store.

We can't see it, as no photo. But if it looks like velvet or velveteen but is not actually knit or woven into the fabric at all and just on the top side of it, is probably what you call "flocked fabric".
Which just means is fuzzy particles of stuff glued or bonded onto just the top of the fabric, in some decorative pattern most times.
Try a google on "flocked fabric" and then choose google images, and you would probably see thousands of them.
