Hey guys, I'm not saying that I've done it so far (*knocks on wood!*), but if--hypothetically--I should be sewing something and accidentally forget to backstitch a seem, are there any remedies, solutions, or suggestions if I should forget this crucial step in a project?

you can pull the top thread to the bottom and tie a knot. You can go back and stitch over the beginning of the seam. You can take a needle and thread and make a little hand stitch. You can put a drop of glue on the seam. If the seam will be creossed by another seam, make sure the seam is not loose at the junction of the two seams. I learned to put the needle in the fabric and take one or two stitches in place and then put presser foot down and begin sewing. I have put my stitch length at almost zero and stitched in place. I hve made a zig zag seam with such a close stitch length that it was like 1/8 inch of satin stitch.
But, I have never ever not back stitched.....and I lost 60 lbs one week and won the lottery... a miracle since I don't buy tickets!

All the things Janie said. I have to admit that I don't worry much about this. By the time I'm finished with it seam ends are usually enclosed or crossed by another seam.
