Hi Everyone,

So I got ahold of a Designer SE (which I love love love) and it was inexpensive because missing embroidery unit.

I was able to find a unit from someone I know, but as it turns out it's for the D1...It looks to me like the only thing that keeps it from attaching to the SE is a little pin (the SE has a little hole on the left side of the free arm towards the back of the machine)...clearly the D1 had a hole towards the front of the free arm.

My question is if I just remove the "pin" or "male part" or whatever one would call it...will the unit work with the SE?

I'm just curious if anyone knows the answer. I'm ok performing "surgery" on the embroidery unit if it will work..but would rather not in case I can just go ahead and re-sell.

Thanks for any help. Yes, I know I should just buy from a dealer..but I don't have the cash to do so and really kind of enjoy tinkering with machines.

I don't think removing the pin will do it, because unless its just a retaining pin to hold the unit to the machine, that pin may make contact somwhere necessary that tells the embroidery unit its ok to work. so making it fit the machine may not necessarily make it work.
