I made a minor mistake when using my Binding Tool and could use some advice. I had not watched the video, as the computer was not turned on. Nor the laptop, and only the main has the video with the updated version of the YouTube demo I wanted.

Anyway, I got out my tool and put it where it should go. Now the fun part. I forgot what to do next and CUT the strip and did not mark it as I was supposed to do.

The other end of the binding strip is not cut, but it is sewn down ready to be trimmed at the proper angle. It is still 9 inches long.

How do I fix this? I imagine it is an easy fix, but my mind has not figured it out yet. Suggestions?

I really enjoy quilting. I love to play with fabrics, colors and pictures. I recently discovered how much fun applique can be. As I love making pictures, landscape quilting can be challenging, but seeing the picture come to life is so rewarding.

If you have an excess at least the width of the binding, you do not need a tool. Place the ends at a right angle and stitch from the upper left edge to the lower right edge then trim away the excess. Pin first so you can check before sewing.

This should help you better understand the method.

Yes, that is the way I do my binding too!!

Except I really like to sew the back on first... as I come around to the long tail left -- then I take out a few stitches (if I have to) of the beginning... turn them and make the 45 angle and sew just like you do when making the binding -- Measuring first -- Pin and check then cut off excess and finish sewing down.

Because I do the back first, I don't have to worry when I sew the front IF I am "catching" the back sewing that down!! So I use the fancy deco stitches and that is good enough for me :-)

Oh I like how that video explains this too!

Thank you. I know it is not a hard problem to fix, and I have been thinking of how to fix it. This should work well for me. Next time, I'll remember to jus make a mark and not cut the fabric. Thanks again.
