You can buy them customized from Wolf (and probably other dress form makers; that's just the one I know offhand). They are quite expensive, and you need to have in-person fittings.

You can buy a custom form from Wolf. Robin Denning went up to NJ to have her measurements taken and went back for a fitting check. It cost quite a lot of money and you live on the west coast. I would think that you can find something in LA.

Yes, you can buy them custom, but it's expensive. They are very nice and professional looking, but if you lose weight you will have a problem. An inexpensive dress form from Dritz (or similar) along with the Fabulous Fit padding system has worked out great for me. I used to use batting and a bra to fill out my form, but it packed down over time. I got the Fabulous Fit system and now it is so much easier to pin into my dress form! You always want to get a dress form smaller than your size, so you can pad it up. If you get one that is exactly your measurement, and you lose weight at some point, you can never make it right.

I Googled and found that PGM makes custom dressforms out of Los Angeles.

Even found an old blog post on the subject by Kathleen Fasanella @ Fashion Incubator with several addresses but it is from 2005.

Perso, I dream of a truly custom dress form because, though my weight is stable enough that I do not worry about fluctuations, I have yet to find a commercial dressform with my Petite measurements esp. back length and NARROW SHOULDERS.

If a custom form can give me that, and I can afford it, why not?

Oh, and a friend told me she got one made in NYC for $400 so you don't really need to shell out $2000 for the Wolff one, do you?

I am currently getting a customized professional dress form made in NYC with a group of ladies I took a draping class with. I got it for $400. I sewed up a very tight fitting french princess seam sloper with the help of my instructor and left it for them to use as a guide to make the dress form. I still need to go back to check the fittings of my dress form before they do the final step of the linen cover. You can also ask them to make it slightly smaller in case you do lose weight. I am petite so buying a premade smaller dress form and padding it will not work as well as getting a customized one that is slightly smaller and padding it. And getting one that is pinnable is needed for draping purposes. You will need to get at least the shoulder slope, the neck to waist length in the front and in the back, the shoulder to apex, and the shoulder to shoulder length to match yours. Several companies in NYC make customized dress forms, so one would have to call around and maybe visit with them. Prices do vary. I am sure you can do the same in the Los Angeles area to check for any customized dress form companies.

I am short so finding a dress form that fit from shoulder to bust, bust to waist and waist to hip took a lot of trial and error. I ended up with a Uniquely You dress form. The form comes with a canvas cover that you fit to your body then it fits over a foam body.
The only issue I had with this form was the bust was in the wrong place, but all I had to do to fix that was cut the boobs off and move them up.
