It certainly isn't my taste but that being said I think it would definitely appeal to a young market. Like my niece for example. She is 15 and loves anything girly and purple. Especially for the price this machine is selling for. Walmart.com lists it for $89.97, which is about what my niece would be able to afford if she were in the market for a machine.

Of course I'm sure this machine will appeal to people who are "a bit" older than 15 as well. LOL!! If it appeals to you then get it! Especially for the price!

Wowee...37 is a lot of actual built-in stitches for a mechanical sm! I am very surprised about that...and also surprised it has a One Step Buttonhole too which is not usually a feature in sms at this price. I like that it has a LED light...those are cooler (less hot) than regular lights.

It must not have drop feed dog feature because it does come with a feed dog cover...which is listed as a darning plate.

It weighs just under 16 lbs...so weighs almost exactly the same as your Janome 2212.

There is nothing mentioned about it being able to sew denim or other thick fabrics.

Brother.com states a dealer near you selling it is Jerry's in Madison. Maybe there would be one there to test sewn on.

bestgrammy, i had the same thought re the # of stitches offered on a mechanical type like this. If it sews well, it has a lot going for it esp for the price!

OH MY!!!

I'm teaching a 17 year old girl...who loves butterflies, and pink, and purple.
She has a perfectly adequate mechanical machine (borrowed from her grandma) with straight & zigzag, but....

Christmas is coming....

Thanks tgm!!

I could check with Jerry's though they are very very pro computerized sm.... you know how it goes we are sure you would much rather have ......... uh no I want a good mechanical...

Feed dog cover is okay my other sm uses that too. But I find what I sew does not need feed dog drop generally. Thank you for pointing that out bestgrammy...
LED light... oh boy... I missed that...sounds like a good feature. .
Is this considered enabling.... ha ha ha ha ha !!! ; ).
Thank you for posting.

The machine is pretty. However, the problem I have with machines like this one is that the harp area is so small you can barely fit your hand there let alone some fabric.

I wonder what the measurement is? A good point...

I looked at the specs no info there. Thank you for mentioning that.
