I've had a lot more problems with Chrome since I updated to version 29 last week (version 29.0.1547.62 m to be exact).

Pages crashing, things not loading...

Anyone else?

I checked my version, and that's the version I have and it works fine. I'm working on an ancient machine with XP Pro SP3.

Thanks, Gwen.

I'm not sure what it is then. I've had more pages crash or not load since I downloaded the update.

I am using that version on Windows 7 with no problems. Have you tried uninstalling it and then re-installing?
Good luck!

Its possible it is a flash update that you need. I setup auto update on Chrome and that is trouble free, and you know you have the best security that way. You don't have to do it yourself. Flash seems to need me to update it myself. Which I did last week and that did help several pages I go to with regularity. Just an idea.

Or it could be a shockwave update you need. Although, if that's the case, Chrome usually gives you a message that your shockwave has crashed.

I've had problems with Chrome so I try not to use it except for a game. Do check your shockwave...Chrome has it's own versions and they do sometimes try to activate the one not suitable for my computer...It's under the "plugIn" tab if you aren't familiar with it...

Check here for your flash (shockwave) needs:

Adobe Flash update and version check

But also, here is an interesting article on why and how to fix shockwave crashes in Chrome:

HowToGeek Article

Not that I would bother myself. Tweaking my browser usually hinders more than helps, but others may want to do it.

The Flash player was fine, but my Shockwave player was out of date and I updated it. I hope this will do the trick.

Thanks, everyone.

OK, so -- everything is all up to date, but my computer has become so slow that it's ridiculous. It takes forever for Chrome to load when I first start it in the morning. Firefox is a little bit better, so I've been using that more. I'm wondering if I should actually stop using Chrome, or even remove it. I only switched over to Chrome (early 2012) because some pages were crashing on Firefox.

Yes, I've run scans to see if there's any other reason. This is beginning to eat holes in my work time. I sit there waiting and waiting -- I might as well be off sewing something. I could probably get a skirt half sewn in the time it sometimes takes.
