Has anyone used this fabric? It's pretty close to 50/50 poly and cotton. My primary is wondering if it would be good for a travel wardrobe, or if there is still too much cotton content for fast-ish drying? Secondarily, I'm looking for impressions on how it is to sew with and wear in general.

Bare Knits Interlock

I know synthetic fibers dry faster, but I think a fabric that is totally poly or nylon will just be too hot for late Spring travel in Europe, and I would prefer to have something with at least a little cotton or rayon in it.

According to the description, it weighs 10 oz per yard, is tightly knitted, and does not allow show-through. That makes it a heavy, dense fabric that will not dry quickly.

In Europe this spring, I bought several tees at Monoprix, made of tissue-weight cotton jersey in basic colors, and they turned out to be my absolute favorites. They are very lightweight, rather loosely cut, so sheerness is not an issue, and even in European humidity, they dry overnight after hand washing.

Britex has some colors, as does FabricMart.

Mood Fabrics does, too.

You can also permanently dye white cotton jersey using fiber-reactive dyes.

As always, order swatches first, and pre-wash any yardage to take care of shrinkage.

It's also going to wrinkle. I know first-hand as I bought some from NN. It's basically interlock and I just don't like that fabric anymore. It's too heavy, stretches out when wearing, and is kind of fuddy-duddy IMO. The colors also weren't exactly true but that may have been more my imagination's expectation.

Bottom line - I wouldn't use it for a travel wardrobe.

Oh, ick. Thanks for the info! I don't think I'd want to use that fabric for really...anything. I'm always a little suspicious of knits that don't have spandex.

Thanks for the suggestion! I like to wear my knits pretty fitted, with 0 or negative ease, so I'm trying to find opaque knits.

You've given me a good idea, though - I think I'll test out making a looser T in a tissue weight knits I have on hand and see how I like it. :)
