My irons get beaten to death - dropped, overworked, set on high at all times. I've always wanted a Rowenta, but just could not step to the prices in the sewing / fabric stores.
Last month I was in a Big Lots found 2 different models, at a price I could afford. I've been using it almost every day for a month, just to make sure it actually stayed working.
It does! It works so well - talk about the blast of steam and heat throughout the whole plate.
And, I've dropped it once and had no change in the heat or steam.

Which model did you score?

Yeah good to hear! I bought one from there before our summer travels (took my old one with) so have not used the one from Big Lots - BUT it was really at a good price!
Glad to hear it's working good for you :-)
I have a great enthusium for sewing, but lack talent to be great.

Any notice on their recalls?
Lots of problems reported online.
Steaming, of course, but also sparks from the cords, etc.
Some appliances at BL are factory-reconditioned, which
I've ended up returning.

I'm really happy with my 9080 from Big Lots. It was priced at $50, but I had a 20% off coupon so I ended up at only $40. I've had it for about 6 months, but I just saw a new shipment a few weeks ago.

Where did you get the 20% off coupon? I need a new iron that I don't have to share with the DH and his clothes..... DH's get so perturbed when a little bit of iron on interfacing gets on their shirts and then is the fault of the person ironing the shirt to check the iron to make sure its clean? of course not!
