Does anyone know why brother is discontinuing the Duetta 2 ? From what I can see it has only been out for a year. I was looking at one at a dealer. Anyone have one?

Brother and Babylock released new machines this year that seem to be just a step below the new sewing/embroidery combos they released last year. Brother released the DreamCreator XE - Innovis VM5100 and Babylock released the Journey. Both are very similar to the Brother DreamWeaver XE and the Babylock Unity without the laser pen functions and a few other features. Additionally, the laser droplight positioning marker and Muv-It or digital dual feed foot are optional accessories. Technically, they are just like the Brother Duetta and Babylock Ellegante, but with better features.

Did you read somewhere they are discontinuing the Duetta? I was told last year at the Long Beach quilt festival that the Duetta and the Ellegante were being discontinued. It's possible these are the machines that will replace them. However, I still see the Ellegante as an available model on the Babylock website.

My husband just purchase a 4570 Duetta 2 for me last month as a 30th wedding anniversary gift. We got a great deal on it and my dealer did indicate that they would not be getting any more in stock once their supply was gone. She didn't say why and I didn't ask!!

I got it more for embroidery since I have a Bernina 830LE which I use for all my sewing. I wanted a backup machine and decided to go with an embroidery one as I love sewing on my Bernina.

The embroidery that I have done so far has been lovely. I can honestly say that I prefer this machine for embroidery than the Bernina!!! It stitches out really nice and is super quiet. The only thing I miss (can't have it all I guess) is the jumbo bobbin that is on the Bernina.......those bobbins go on forever without needing to be filled. But besides that, this machine (for embroidery anyways) is a sweetheart!!! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

It's basically the same machine with many updates over the years as the original innovis 4000D (which offered a couple upgrade packages over the years...then became 4500D...then 4750D.... ) which came out in 2003. So guess it's time to transition out of the model lineup to make room for the new ones!

Hi, I bought a Duetta 4500D a year ago for a good price. I don't feel the need to upgrade to a new machine. It is exactly the same machine as the Duetta 4570D, but without the add-on packages that you could just buy for any machine. It sews just as well as the top-of-the-line Brother machines. The embroidery looks to be the same too. The only thing I would like to have would be a machine with a ten inch harp for making baby applique quilts. I doubt I will be able to get another machine until my Pfaff 7530 wears out, and it is going strong! Harriet

My guess is that they didn't sell well as they thought. The dreamweaver v series is probably taking a good chunk of the sales since there are more features than the duetta. I know thats why the isadore was taken off the market because it didn't sell well. Thats why my dealer said he stopped carrying it because it wasn't selling.

I was told by a dealer they were being discontinued and they are pricing them to clear. I was quoted 4,000 by ond and 4,295 by another. It omes with a lot including a hard cover and a case for the embroidery unit. I wondered if they were being discontinued due to problems. I called the babylock dealer and I was told they are not discontinuing the Ellangante 3 and told me it was priced at 5,200. I was looking for a new machine after selling my 12 year old ellageo on ebay recently. Sometimes you just don't know what to believe as I had never dealt with the brother dealer but just wanted to look.
