I have started to make riding wear for a hunt club in our area and am having a great deal of trouble sourcing fabric (tattersall and Cavalry Twill) and patterns for riding pants with the wide hips and jackets with a shaped back like those worn in the 1800's. So far I have been drafting them.
Does anyone do these?
Any suggestions ?
Thanks for any help.

vogue 8333 - I remember reading the reviews and finding someone who had used it as a riding coat. Or there's butterick 3836 which appears to be out of print. I was sure I had it in my pattern box, but I must have given it away last time I cleaned out.
No ideas yet of jodhpurs, but maybe using that as a search term will help?

Exquisite Fabrics

How about this for the cavalry twill?

Going to pass the Suitability link on to the mom looking for children's jacket patterns, I know she wll appreciate the additional option.

Wow, you aren't kidding, no one has wool Cavalry Twill. Are they wanting it for breeches? If so, I'm only seeing it online in olive, which wouldn't normally be a correct color. Breeches I've seen have been made out of heavy-duty stretch fabrics. I believe the Spandura carried by Seattle Fabrics might work. You could ask for a sample. I've heard they once carried a wool/stretch for equestrian breeches. You might want to contact them to see if it's something they can get.

Is the Tattersall for vests? I see it fairly often in fabric stores, but not so much online. See if Mood Fabrics might have what you're looking for.

The only pattern I know of that is a correct English hunt frock-style coat is the now out-of-print Jean Hardy #630. I bought a copy on eBay last year.

Good luck!

Don't know if you're still looking for twill, but Fabric Mart has some cavalry twill as well as other twill called "steep" twill which may be the same. And right now it's on sale for 40% off if you order $40.
