After thoroughly cleaning it (yes, it was sorely needed), I put it through its paces. I'm impressed with the stitch selection and stitch quality. It also takes the same bobbins as my Ellegante which is quite convenient.

I've searched reviews and posts for this machine and for the Audrey hoping for someone else's opinion of the sewing speed via foot pedal. Regardless of which of the three speeds selected and how much pressure is given the pedal, this machine starts sewing slowly and reaches full speed after about 1 to 1 1/2 inches of stitching. I'm taking it to my dealer Friday for a once over, but in the meantime am wondering if other owners of this or any of the twins made by Singer/White/Morse experience the same response lag.

I checked this machine out at the dealer some years ago. It is programmed to always stat slow then speed up. The dealer demonstrated this so it is perfectly normal for this machine.

Thank you for posting. I feel better! I'm taking this machine with me for a two week visit with my son on the west coast next month. It's exactly what I was looking for!

Congrats! It's always fun getting a new little "friend".
Good idea to have it given a once over, though - will make you feel better and it will be in top form:)
Have fun on your visit to your son's house!
