The Vogue pattern magazine always looks interesting but not so much that I have ever wanted to buy it or subscribe to it before I saw the current issue previewed here.
I am strangely drawn to it and as it has coupons to redeem for Vogue patterns was wondering if the subscription or even buying single issues was worth it. And whether the content is worth reading or is it just something to glance through then set aside?

I did subscribe to it for several years and I did take advantage of savings when it came to buying Vogue patterns. I think when I renewed I got a discount on the patterns or something like that. I let my subscription go; however, I do once in awhile pick it up I am at JoAnn's.

They do have some good sewing articles and they have - for the most part- really do a nice job in styling their patterns. Many times, they will have patterns that I may have overlooked and they have sewn them up in a different fabric/restyled it a bit and it catches my eye.

Given the choice, I prefer Threads, if only because they aren't locked into one pattern company. But sometimes there are single issues of Vogue Patterns that are good - I keep one because it had an interesting article on vintage findings that you can still find today.

There is a recent issue of Threads that had a nice interview/discussion on sewing your own jeans (that was the interesting article to me in the preview, as well as the designer feature).

I've subscribed to Vogue Patterns for quite some time. I love the layout and the fact that it highlights patterns which I may have bypassed unintentionally. I like it for styling inspiration.

Great articles, good price to subscribe compared to buying in store.

Coupon not worth anything compared to on-line sales.

I had a 2yr subscription a few years back. When I was culling my sewing mags, I was only able to divest myself of ONE because I reread the rest. Very useful info, well written and gorgeous accessorizing of the vogue makes.

Cheap fabrics, like cheap shoes, are a false economy.

I can't remember how long I've been a subscriber to Vogue Patterns but it's been quite a while now. I love seeing the patterns made up and styled and I think they have great articles. Also love the 'Must Haves' section...always find nifty notions there to try as well as new suppliers for anything and everything.
I get Threads too...I think they both have value.

I agree with you. I also enjoy Sew News...nothing nicer while going to bed...curling up with one of these magazines...and then falling asleep with a lovely pattern in ones head instead of the nightly boos...I mean news.
