I made a lined skirt out of really nice rayon challis. It was all done, and I gave it one last pressing before putting it in my closet. Unfortunately, the challis stretched from the steam pressing so that it was about 2 inches longer than the lining (they're sewed together - the skirt hem is sewed to the lining.) I tried to save it by putting it in the dryer with a damp towel. Surprise! It worked! The skirt is now the proper length again. However, it's pretty wrinkly, and I don't dare iron it again. Does anyone know if I can make it look presentable without having to take it all apart and re-do the hems separately on the skirt and the lining? Thanks for your help! Pat

I would take apart and rehem separate...do a quick machine hem on the lining ...but it all depends on the style of the skirt and if it is a simple hem or one with a kick pleat in the back... Good Luck.

It shouldn't have wrinkled from steaming in the dryer. Did you whisk it out of there ASAP, or did it happen to sit in the dryer and get cold? If it wrinkled from sitting in a cold dryer, I'd give it another go at steaming. If not; I think you'll have to take it apart per Laurie Lou's suggestion.

Take it apart, because if the challis stretched with iron, just imagine what would happen after sitting in it for a while. That could be embarassing!
