I recently purchased McCalls 2149 Pattern. I'm a beginner sewer and having done a few baby dresses, diaper covers, etc. I thought, hey, I can totally handle this AND it says easy?! Ok! Not ok. I've been struggling with how the collar goes on exactly and I'm about at my wits end on it. I'm so close to finishing this shirt that I don't want to be discouraged by it. Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me with this? I really want to finish this shirt tonight for my husband for the car show.

Which view?

Some unasked for advice: leave it for another day. If you try to push through, you could easily ruin it and then you'd be really discouraged. Once you've done one, then you'll know how and whether you're really up to doing it late at night, but trying to force your way through it without really knowing what you're doing is just asking for frustration.

I don't do anything fiddly late in the evening. Too many bad outcomes after thinking I can do just one more thing.

I love this GigiSews tutorial for convertible/notched collar. Peter at Male Pattern Boldness has a tutorial for a stand collared shirt.

I hope you were able to take a deep breath and put it away for the night.

Could you give a bit more information about what it is that's confusing you? I had a lot of trouble with my first collar on a men's shirt. Does this pattern have a collar stand?

I had walked away and never looked back until now. I'm working on pattern 6197. I'm still trying to figure it out since I have another car show in a week. Is anyone willing to ppossibly show me via pictures? I really want to finish this so I can work on more.

6197 is a little girl's pattern. Your original post said you were working on 2149, men's shirts. Which pattern and which view are you doing?

I'm doing the A6197 pattern. It's a pattern for both men and women's shirts I had to starr a new pattern due to little puppies wanting to snack on patterns
