Hello all,

After almost 20 years with my Janome MC3000, I have finally decided to invest in a new machine. I had it narrowed down to the Janome 9900, the Brother VM5100 and the Babylock Ellegante 3. I have to say after testing all three and looking at the features I'm in love with the Ellegante 3. However, since it's been soooo long since I've bought a machine I need the expert advice that you all have here. Babylock now has new machines out, and no longer makes the Ellegante. I was offered a price of $3995 for this machine brand new and want to know if this is a good price. Another dealer (more of a retailer actually) has a floor model, but her price was higher than the new one! If she will go lower than the $3995 (which I will have to drive over an hour to get) I would love to take the slightly used machine. I would appreciate any advice and suggestions anyone has. Thanks!

BL is not listing the BLG3 as being a previous/discontinued model.

As for price, who is the closest to your home, provides service, classes and is the easiest to deal with.

Around here I'd think it's a good price, esp. if it's a good dealer with free classes, good service/attitude, etc.!

Everyone....since I post this just a couple of hours ago, a few phone calls and some web searches have revealed that this is still too much for this machine. Also, I'm seeing some mixed reviews regarding problems with the machine. I don't want to have to run to the shop every other month with a machine as I never had a problem with my Janome. So...now back to the drawing board. Any advice as to whether I should go with the Janome 9900 (a lot less features), go with the Brother VM5100, and there is even another Janome I believe an 11000 that looks great.

Hi PattAnn,

Thanks for responding. The dealer offering the $3995 is over an hour from my home and I am not familiar with them. It would not be convenient to drive there for service or classes, so I'm wondering if the initial savings is worth it. My regular dealer carries Brother but not Babylock.
