How do I switch?

I have a Singer Serger which I am reacquainting myself with after not using for almost two years (I know, bad sewer, but there was a major move in that time!).

Anyway, it comes with a seam guide which can be switched and replaced with a knife cover, depending on which stitch you're doing. There aren't really any instructions on how to do this, it just says to "remove the seam guide". The guide doesn't want to come off and I don't want to force it because it's plastic and I'm afraid it will break.

Any ideas on how to safely switch these two out? Would a picture of the guide help?

Thanks,

Karen

Do you have something like the 14T967DC ? Because the manual that goes with it sometimes skips over important details, or is wrong.

The knife guard cover (or coverstitch plate) has two tabs that slide into the edge furthest away from you. They are totally flat. All they do is slide. Ignore them for now.

There should be another, slightly larger tab nearer to you. It sticks out a little bit. GENTLY pull that tab up (it has a little plastic catch on the other side), one little millimeter is all you need, as you try to slide the whole piece toward yourself. It may not seem possible at first, but once you get the hang of it, you can move the coverstitch plate or knife guard in and out by using only two fingers.

Try like this. Open the door. Put your left index finger on the tab. Rest your left thumb against the curved part. Pinch your fingers together. That should do it.
