Stopped working after light bulb change

My dad changed the light bulb and the machine stopped working.
We think it's likely to be the electronic board as the little clear fuse was evidently blown. We changed this fuse but the machine still does not work (there is power to the board). We have read many blogs that say capacitors are often the culprit..
1. Do you think the capacitor may be the cause?
2. Will a generic (smaller) capacitor do?
3. Is there more than one capacitor on the board? (I can send a picture if req'd)..
4. Is there a risk that we will burn the whole board if we do this? and if yes, is it a high risk? (my husband is happy to try solder the new capacitor)
5. Do you think there is a high possibility of error/damage if a lay person tries soldering the capacitor (mu husband is usually very good at DIY things)
5. Do you think the problem could be something else?

Neither of us are working at the moment so trying to save every penny, so really want to avoid sending the machine for repair..also we don't have a car, so not easy taking the whole machine in for a qoute either.

We would really appreciate your advice. Thank you

I have one, but haven't changed the bulb. There are a lot of people who know way more than me at the Yahoo group Berninathirtysomething. I'd ask there.

This might be one for the shop. A blown fuse may indicate a short somewhere and replacing a component probably won't fix the original problem. An l-print ( or power print ) on this machine is a little more complex than most machines of that era. The 930 is a great machine and it would be well worth it to pay a tech who is very familiar with it, to fix this before anymore damage is done.

I would try the Yahoo group- some techs hang out there.
