I'm considering B5849 as a work staple dress.

Though the recommanded fabrics are Faille, Crepe and Linen, I have a couple of thinner knits I am considering.

Has anyone sewn this one before? I did a search an nothing came up. If so, what fabric did you use and what is your opinion of the pattern in general? TIA for your replies!

Do thin knits and princess seams go together?? The pattern link looks like it is made of a crepe - very pretty dress. Thin knits are so fickle - I would stabilize most of the seams! good luck

I made Vogue 1182 from silk dupioni. I can't imagine this dress in a light knit. Suggested fabrics on this pattern include shantung and satin.

BTW...it fit like a dream!!

Thanks for your replies, ladies.

Just to clarify, when I say I don't mean thinner knit, I don't mean onion skin or tissue knit, not at all!

I have this knit I bought online (ie couldn't touch it until it was too late) that is a few thicknesses below a double knit but not really thin like the polyester or ITY I have in my stash.

So I was considering this pattern for the fabric. I am aware that the neckline treatment and the pleats need some structure to the cloth.

Well, all that said, I guess it's up to me to review this dress once I make it...
