Subject: Bernina 580 Embroidery Bobbin Question Date: 9/26/13 6:35 PM
I'm about to start my first embroidery (so much for "advanced"!), and I think my greatest fear right now is that I might not have my bobbin threaded properly. I watched the YouTube video, (same as the DVD video) but am still not sure.
Is this something I can test ahead of time? That would be a huge relief.
And honestly, this book makes me feel like I'm watching a PowerPoint presentation. Are there any after market books I can consult that won't completely turf me to the dirt with my machine?

Are you referring to the little pigtail on the bobbin case? I suppose you could pull the bobbin thread to see if it is coming out smoothly before loading. It just adds a little more tension.
Regarding books, I know there are free mastery books online you can download for free. Perhaps someone here has a link. There is a group on Yahoo for the 580 if you have questions. They also have links to various educational webinars, some of which use the 580.

The 580 comes with two bobbin cases - one with pigtail and one without. The one with is the one you want for embroidery. Just put the thread through it and it should be fine.
