I'm a bit of a fan of Helen Godden's approach to FMQ and I found her DVD really approachable. She's got a book out ( 50 styles of quilting, I think self published) that has different patterns in it and has embedded links via an app called Aurasma. I'd never heard of it before so if it's old hat sorry for the gee whiz moment- I was trying to figure out how you do one of the patterns (a steam punk cog) and wow there was Helen drawing it out. I had a combined duh, & wow moment at how doable it was to try (not necessarily do well but definitely have a go).

I hope this is a bit of a trend in quilting books it's motivating

I like her site and her sense of humor. Loved the line" this bitch don't ditch". However if you take a look at her paintings etc. She's a talented artist. And as I've said before of course she's going to be able to free motion quilt alot easier then people (me being one of them) that can't draw etc. Leah Day same thing. I have read a lot of free motion quilting from a lot of difference people and approaches but I've yet to see that it would help me do it better. I do believe it's a talent. You have it or you don't.

She does have a sense of humor.

I really enjoy quilting. I love to play with fabrics, colors and pictures. I recently discovered how much fun applique can be. As I love making pictures, landscape quilting can be challenging, but seeing the picture come to life is so rewarding.

I'm not that good at FMQ but I had her dvd with me next to the machine and I had my best result with her approach. There are so many ways to approach FMQ i guess you have to keep trying till you find one that clicks. I also like her sense of humour

She is a riot! I snorted out loud and scared my dog about the "Sven button"

HAHAHAHAHA!

I just read that one blog page, still not quite sure what her FMQ method is, but she is fun to read, I'll search more.
