For a long while I've had a Brother LB-6800 Project Runway Edition. I love it. Now I'm becoming curious as to how to better utilize it. I do not have any of the original manuals or DVD's that came with it. My 1 year old destroyed them, but as I recall they were not very helpful. I would like to find out its full capabilities. All I've done on it is use the basic stitches to put together a few patterns and make curtains with the blind hem foot. What are all these different stitches for? What about the different feet? How do I use the machine embroidery part of it? I'm interested in finding an online class like the Craftsy ones or a DVD / blue ray / computer CD that I can follow along. Any suggestions?

I don't think that you can do anything without the manual. I think it is nearly identical to the 400 and I know there has been a lot of discussion on here about that machine. I found the manual and updates on the Brother site. Here is a link: Brother

I agree with the manual Print it out and read it page by page. When the manual goes into a technique, grab some fabric, foot told to use and practice each technique in the manual. You will learn how to use the feet that came with your machine. Another option is to check locally for sewing groups, every area has some groups for sewing/quilting and are a huge help. I have an older version of this machine and it embroiders beautifully! When connecting and dis-connected embroidery unit make sure you power off the machine and then turn back on. I just checked www.asg.org site (American Sewing Guild) for NM and there is one in Albuquerque and one in Las Cruces if you are close to either of them. Just a thought...

Got the manual redownloaded and printing it back out. I guess what I'm searching for is something that has projects to show me to use things?

Here are 57 full episodes of Nancy Zieman. She has great projects and you can go through them, pause your computer and just follow along. I would still recommend stitching samples as you go through your manual. I bought a new 930 Bernina years ago and the shop lessons used the manual as a workbook. If it showed a straight stich, you did a straight stitch and attached it to the manual with your settings. As I looked through the manual it showed decorative stitches and tons of stuff to stitch out to really get a good feel for your machine and then you would be ready for just about anything.
Look at this pfaff thread here at PR. Also go back a couple pages prior and you will see how others stitch out the decorative patterns and also look at the cute little purse using machine decorative stitches. Ideas are all over, pinterest also has lots of cool ideas! Have fun!!!

Thanks, I will go through Nancy's series. I ordered the machine online and really didn't think that there would be any support for it via the place I got it from. Looking through youtube, I found the people I bought it from had a complete series on the machine. Many great resources out there it seems

For the embroidery it is really easy on this machine but it would be nice for you to get with someone and watch first. Maybe there is a youtube video, you can find anything there. Also check out Embroidery Library. They have tips and also some "how to" projects, just dig around at the site. They always have great sales and freebies, just make sure you stick to the 4.4 or smaller for your hoop size
