I don't know where else to put this, sorry.....

I'd like a shirt/blouse pattern (woman's) for a princess seam shirt/blouse with lapels, not the usual collar and stand, more like a jacket collar - lapels.

Does such a pattern exist? An earlier search brought up a sew-along by Pam, but she didn't specify the pattern.

http://off-the-cuff-style.blogspot.co.uk/2006/12/hot-patterns-collarlapel-tutorial.html

See picture 10? That's ideal, and it seems to have princess seams too. Unfortunately, it's dated 12/03/2006, which is either 12th March or 3rd December that year.

Thanks, to anyone who replies.

The blog you linked mentions a Hot Patterns pattern, so I went through their catalog and found this top which seems to be the one discussed in the blog. KwikSew 3620 is a similar style with a slightly different collar. Happy sewing!

I can confirm that that's HotPattern's P&S Princess shirt that's discussed in Pam's tutorial. I've made it, and it's a very flattering blouse on a curvy figure.

(I have no idea what your figure type is.)

Oh wow.

THANK YOU BECKY!

That shirt/blouse looks perfect (for my next shirt), and I've even found a UK supplier.

That pattern is so problematic that there is a NINE PAGE thread about it, right here. http://sewing.patternreview.com/SewingDiscussions/topic/51937

It's not that the pattern is problematic; it's that the instructions for the collar, as included in the pattern, aren't clear. Use Pam's tutorial for that part.

Butterick has several in their shirt/blouse section and Burda has at least one in their tops section.

MANY thanks for those links, Liz, the Butterick B5538 looks good, but the only UK retailer I can find is Amazon. I've bookmarked it. I couldn't see another one with princess seams, but maybe I didn't look closely enough. Many thanks again.

In the meantime, since so many people found Hot Patterns 1099 so problematic (just about everyone as far as I can see), I have now ordered McCalls 6076 which looks remarkably similar - princess seams and the collar style I'm after.

All the reviews here for that pattern are favourable, by contrast. This is why I use PR so much! I already know that there's a redundant seam in the sleeves, for instance. I'll put a cuff on the sleeves, doesn't seem a big deal alteration.
