Need help understanding View E, Step 11

I don't know why I'm struggling with this pattern so much (this is my 2nd post on this pattern). I'm doing View E and I'm on step 11. I have the band facing attached and now I am supposed to attach the band to the band facing at the neck. It says "on the inside with right sides together" but if I have done everything correctly (which I think I have) I would be sewing the edge that was just folded over and pressed. I don't understand how I attach the bands together but not sew the folded edge. In step 12, it says to "fold the band to the outside". I don't understand how this works either. If you are familiar with this pattern, please help!

I found the instructions here should anyone else wish to comment.

Before sewing, baste and flip to see what the results will be.

The instructions are right, just done differently than most of us would do it!

The first band that was sewn on should have the wrong side facing to the outside of the top when you look at it. Press the seams toward the band. That is the inside facing of the band.

The separate piece that gets attached is actually the outside band, in other words the one that's visible on the front of the top. After sewing the shoulder seams you need to press under the outer edges all the way around. Sounds to me like you pressed the inner edges. Working from the inside of the top sew the band to the facing right sides together along the inner edges. Press, trim and clip the curves. Now press that to the outside of the top. That is now the visible portion of the band. Topstitch close to the edge of the band.

In step 11 you are attaching the band that you prepped in step 10. So they have you working from the inside of the shirt, pinning the band to the band facing, right sides together. You are not pinning the folded edge of the band, you are pinning the unfolded edge of the band, to the neck and front. Did you sew the front seams to the dots in steps 9 & 10?

Thank you! I went ahead and did it. I basted it first and although this seems like the most difficult way to attach a band, it appears correct. It was very difficult to sew and I would recommend to anyone attempting this pattern to either go about it in a completely different way or certainly baste it first just to hold it in place. I doubt I will use this pattern again, but if I did I would use a more traditional method for attaching a band. This way is unnecessarily difficult and I think the results would have been better if I simply created the band (with the interfacing) and attached it in one step instead of this layering process.

Usually one would sew the right side of the facing to the right side of the fabric (with the band sandwiched between the two) and then turn the facing to the inside, leaving the band outside to be topstitched down. But this pattern appears to be backwards. Maybe it's late and I am tired, but the directions and picture for #8 appear to be wrong....the facing should be WRONG side facing the wrong side of the garment, as you can see clearly in the picture #11 and where it says correctly "11. On INSIDE and with RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER, pin band to band facing at front and neck edge, matching centers back, shoulder seams and small dots. Please correct me if I am wrong....

As you'll see in my previous reply, there are a lot of things in this pattern that seem backwards. I am almost finished with the project now but the band doesn't look great. As I said in my previous reply, if I were to do this again I would attach the band in a completely different way. It seems like they found the most complicated way to attach a band and it made for a very frustrating experience and way less than perfect results. It shouldn't have been such a difficult project. Thank you for your help though.
